It doesn't take long in Alaska to meet incredible people with amazing stories. Here are a few good friends that know the interior and the adventure it has to offer. People flock to this state to see its wonders and abundant wildlife. These friends will take you off the beaten path and put you up close and personal, one on one with the wild!
For a float hunt, Kent Kaiser with Alaska Quest harvests trophy animals every year. His proof is in the pictures. I can't wait to see what he brings out of the woods next year.
For guided fishing trips, Reinhard Neuhauser with Alaska Fishing and Raft Adventures knows the secrets to enticing the fishes of the interior. Like me, "Rainie" is not happy unless he is knee-deep in a river, fly rod in hand, tantalizing the appetite of a 40+ inch pike, an explosion on the water surface just seconds away.
If touring Alaska at your own pace is your style, Suzanne Spanjer can accommodate you with an RV at Adventures In Alaska RV Rentals. This is home to Marina Air, Inc. and the perfect location to relax, share some stories, and watch the float planes come and go.
Big Rays is the place and Jason Rivers is the man to help outfit you & get you the tools to hunt the mighty Northern Pike of Minto Flats. Jason is a fanatic about fly fishing Northerns and he searches the globe to keep Big Rays outfitted with the best tackle and flies to do the job. Tell him Matt sent you.
If visiting from out of state, no adventure is complete without the experience of a glacier landing. Rich in bush flying history, David Lee and Holly Sheldon Lee operate a flight seeing business that puts you up close and personal with Mt. McKinley. As far as hospitality, they are life-long friends you havenít met yet. Holly's grandfather, Bob Reeves, invented ski flying. Visit them in Talkeetna and don't forget your camera!
Mitch Osborne and Kate Sample own and operate TEST THE WATERS. They are experts in the equipment necessary to navigate the rivers of the interior. Kate and Mitch certified my son, Cade at the age of 12 in scuba. What's impressive is that it was January 1st in Whittier, Alaska. BRRRR!
